YOU WERE PURPOSELY CREATED

Purposely Created

Jeremiah, in the biblical book that bears his name, described a moment when he received his call from God. He wrote, “Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations,” Jeremiah 1:5.

God informed Jeremiah that before He created him in his mother’s womb, He knew he would come into existence and had already given him a purpose. 

Jeremiah was given a unique call by God, but from this we can glean some things that are true for us all. 

1) God formed us within our mothers’ wombs. 

2) Like Jeremiah, God knew each of us before we ever existed. 

3) God purposely created us. We are here for a God-given purpose.

Let’s also consider what David wrote in Psalm 139:13-16, “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”

The three points that I highlighted previously from what Jeremiah recorded are clearly found in what David has written as well. David helps us to see God’s work in creating not only himself but you and me also. 

I have encountered individuals who feel as though they are here by luck, chance, happenstance, or even by mistake, and I wrote this post to encourage anyone who feels that way. If you consider yourself to be here as a result of these, please know that each of these perspectives is untrue. You were purposely created, and I am glad that you are here.
